Embodied Coil and Carve 2 day workshop

In this workshop, Raphaela will guide you through the art of coiling while introducing some embodiment practices to enhance your creative experience. Coiling is a traditional hand-building technique that involves shaping rolled-out “sausages” of clay into unique and beautiful vessels. Together, we’ll use a few simple movement and breath practices to help envision what we want to create. Then, step by step, we’ll bring our ideas to life—from forming the structure to refining its shape and details.

Once our pieces are complete, we’ll shift our focus to decoration. Using locally gathered slip (liquid clay) and a technique called sgraffito, we’ll carve into the surface to reveal intricate designs and textures. This workshop is all about bringing creativity to life—each pot will be a truly one-of-a-kind masterpiece!
